Haj 2009 - Last flight departed

 

       The last flight of Haj-2009 departed on 04th January, 2010 carrying 124 pilgrims from Madinah to Delhi at 0630 hrs. With this, departure phase of Indian pilgrims came to an end. A total 393 flights departed in Phase-II carrying pilgrims back to the India. During this Haj 247 pilgrims expired, out of which 176 are from Haj Committee and 71 from Private Tour Operators. Two pilgrims – one each in Makkah & Madinah are undergoing medical treatment in Saudi Government Hospital.

 

Core Haj period (25th November to 29th November)

 

25th November (8th Zil Hijja): The movement of pilgrims from Makkah to Mina started from 24th November night and was completed before noon of 25th November. All Indian Pilgrims reached Mina before Zohar prayers (Noon Prayers). The Indian Haj Mission Office and Indian Haj Mission Dispensary started functioning  round the clock from the evening of 24th November. Heavy rains continued in Mina until the evening of 25th November. Good drainage system ensured that there were no water logging in any tents and streets in Mina.

 

Arafat Day, 26th November (9th Zil Hijja): Movement of Pilgrims to Arafat started from the night of 25th November. All Indian Pilgrims reached Arafat before noon. Rains subsided and there was bright sun shine in Arafat. Seventy Indian Pilgrims were brought to Arafat by Ambulance Services.22 Pilgrims among them were brought from the 50 Bedded hospital run by Indian Haj Mission. 48 pilgrims were brought by Saudi Authorities from Saudi run hospitals. After sunset all pilgrims moved to Muzdalifa.

 

Day of Eid Ul Adha, 27th November (10th Zil Hijja): By dawn of 27th November all pilgrims moved to Mina from Muzdalifah. Today is the first day of Ramee (stone throwing) at Shaitan. Movement of pilgrims towards Jamarat to throw stones at Shaitan went on smoothly. The newly built massive Jamarat bridges could easily accommodate the Pilgrims movement. No untoward incident happened in the first day of Jamarat as of 4.00 PM local time. Total of 87 pilgrims have expired as on date during Haj 2009. 8 pilgrims among them expired in Mina and Arafat. The Indian Haj Mission office is assisting in finding missing pilgrims. A large number of Indian Pilgrim visited the Indian Haj Mission Dispensary to avail its facilities.

 

28th November (11th Zil Hija): Today is the second day for Ramee (Stone throwing at Shaitan). Pilgrims in large numbers moved to the Jamarat for stoning the Shitan. No untoward incident was noticed. The Indian Haj Mission in Mina assisted numerous pilgrims to find their lost companions. Dispensary of the Indian Haj Mission had a continuous flow of pilgrims.

 

29th November (12th Zil Hija): Today is the last day for Ramee (Stone throwing at Shaitan). Pilgrims in large numbers moved to the Jamarat for stoning the Shitan. No untoward incident was noticed. Pilgrims moved to Makkah after Ramee. By 5.30 PM most of the pilgrims left Mina to Makkah. Some pilgrims would continue to stay in Mina for one more day and will move to Makkah tomorrow. The Indian Haj Mission office in Mina would continue to function until tomorrow evening and the officials of the Mission would ensure that all the pilgrims have left Mina before winding up of the Haj Mission Office. Total of 104 pilgrims have expired as on date during Haj 2009. 25 pilgrims among them expired in Mina and Arafat.

 

Arrival of pilgrims in Phase-I (Incoming Phase)

24th November, 2009

The last flight carrying Indian Pilgrims for Haj-2009 arrived on 23rd November 2009 at Jeddah. As on 24th November, 2009 (0001 hrs) a total of 423 flights arrived both in Makkah and Madinah. Number of pilgrims in Makkah are 120065 and in Madinah 11. Seventy five pilgrims expired out of which 61 came through Haj Committee of India and 14 with Private Tour Operators.

 

  Indian Pilgrims arrive in Jeddah and Madinah

Ambassador of India Mr. M.O.H. Farook along with Consul (Haj) Mr. B.S. Mubarak, Vice Consul (Haj) Mr. S.D. Moorthy and other consulate officials received the first flight carrying Indian pilgrims at Jeddah Haj Terminal today. The first flight came from Delhi carried 248 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh.

 

The Consul General of India Mr. Sayeed Ahmed Baba received the first flight carrying Indian pilgrims at Madinah. This flight carried 310 pilgrims from Lucknow.

 

Accommodation arrangements for Hajis arrived in Jeddah and Madinah are complete in all respects.
